Corporate Underwriting Sales Executive
Michigan Radio is seeking an experienced corporate underwriting sales
representative to solicit and manage corporate sponsorship relationships
for Michigan Radio. This individual will secure corporate support for
programs and events through direct contacts with key senior decision makers
in corporations and advertising agencies, and will service accounts to
maximize both customer satisfaction and retention..
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- 2- 3 years sales experience in a business to business category, with
proven track record of successful negotiating with key decision makers, and
meeting and exceeding sales goals;
- Knowledge of media sales and advertising agency functions, services,
hierarchies and trends;
- Personal in-depth knowledge and understanding of public radio is a must;
- Strong written and oral presentation skills;
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple prospects and clients
effectively;
- Computer literacy is a must, with proficiency in mobile networking and
the use of software applications such as Excel, Word, Outlook and ACT along
with the ability to master other software programs as required;
- Highly energetic self-motivated team player. Must be able to follow
direction and also work independently according to defined departmental
needs.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
is necessary. Experience in media sales, advertising is most desirable.
Experience in fund-raising is a plus. Computer proficiency is required.

Online Content & Social Engagement Producer
Status:
Contractor Work
Manages the online presence of the Michigan Radio and implements social engagement and online initiatives in support of the station’s journalism with the goal of increasing use of station content and enhancing the value of the organization in the communities it serves.
Job Summary
- Work collaboratively with station managers and staff to develop, design and implement online content, tools and web style standards to ensure consistency, timeliness and best user experience for the station’s online presence. Online presence to include: web, mobile, email blast, Facebook, Twitter and other social networks, and web multiple media.
- Develop and implement online engagement activities that further the station.
- Manage online interactivity including moderating user content, organizing content management system and daily workflow, producing and managing online audio, video and other content archiving.
- Generates ideas that enhance the online user experience. Evaluate, test and implement new initiatives, features and functionality.
- Works with the station system administrator and the University to maintain online properties, including such things as maximizing user experience and search engine optimization.
- Performs all duties in a manner consistent with Michigan Radio standards to ensure that that accuracy, thoroughness, and fairness are central characteristics of all content presented.
Education Required:
College graduate or equivalent experience.
Experience/skill Required:
- Minimum 2 years experience working with interactive web applications and social media with demonstrated results.
- Minimum 2 years experience working with a journalism organization.
- Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong design and information architecture skills needed, including knowledge of web site creation, content management systems, technology, software and best practices. Knowledge of PHP a plus.
- Ability to multi-task and oversee diverse projects simultaneously. Ability to work independently, under pressure, meet deadlines and take direction.
- Knowledge of public media values and mission.
