Newsroom

Claudia Boyd-Barrett

Claudia is in the process of earning her Master’s in Journalism from the Universidad de San Andres in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She graduated from Manchester University in the U.K. in 1998 with a specialization in Spanish and Social Sciences, and has, since then, taught English as a second language, volunteered with a human rights organization in Mexico, and worked for several newspapers in the U.S. and Mexico. Here at Michigan Radio, she will conduct interviews, gather sound, and write stories for newscasts.
Charles Manley

Charles graduated cum laude from Eastern Michigan University in 2009 with a BA in Journalism and a minor in Electronic Media & Film Studies. During his time at Michigan Radio, he will conduct interviews, gather sound, and write stories for the newscasts.
Lauren Silverman

Lauren is a senior studying Political Science and Latin American and Caribbean Studies at the University of Michigan. Back in her hometown of Berkeley California, Lauren put her curiosity to work and started doing interviews as a high school intern for Youth Radio. In 2005 she won a Gracie Allen Award from American Women in Radio and Television. Since then she has gone on to write and record opinion pieces for America Public Media's Marketplace, as well as NPR's Morning Edition and All Things Considered. After she graduates in December, Lauren plans to move to D.C. and take her mic with her.

Production

Meg Young

Meg is currently a student at the University of Michigan. She studies Political Science and Anthropology and makes documentaries. During her internship, Meg will be assisting with editing, vox pop production, and promo production.

"I want to learn as much about the technology behind production as possible. I would like to be a journalist, and I know radio and your work will help prepare me for the future of the industry. I'm really enjoying working here."

The Environment Report

Erin Kelly

Erin is a senior at the University of Michigan majoring in Environmental Studies with a specialization in Environmental Writing and Journalism. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, camping with friends, reading, dancing, and traveling (recent destinations include India and Tanzania). Erin researches story ideas, books interviews, and assists with the Environment Report's website.
Katherine Martin

Katherine is a senior at the University of Michigan earning a BA in Communication Studies and a minor in Environmental Studies. She enjoys outdoor activities like canoeing and rock climbing, is an avid cook and photographer, and maintains a blog about cooking and baking. Katherine researches story ideas and books interviews for The Environment Report.

Marketing

Erica Krasity

Erica is a junior at the University of Michigan studying business and English. Here at Michigan Radio, she helps put out our e-newsletter, drafts press releases, manages the events calendar, assists with media sponsorships, and does whatever other marketing-related tasks come her way. In her free time, she rides and shows Arabian and half-Arabian horses.
