Several ice dancers who competed in the 2018 Olympics in Pyeongchang have Michigan ties.

One pair of U.S. Olympians with Michigan ties made it to the podium Monday, but another fell just short.

The ice dancing team of Maia and Alex Shibutani won bronze. The sister and brother from Ann Arbor edged out Madison Hubbell and Zach Donohue, who finished fourth.

Hubbell is originally from Okemos. She and Donohue train in Canada, but compete with the Lansing Skating Club.

Canadian skaters Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir won the gold, and are now the most decorated ice dancers in Olympic history.

Virtue and Moir earned 206.07 points to beat Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron of France, who finished with 205.28 to earn silver. The Shibutanis had 192.59 points.

The Shibutanis have now won bronze twice in Pyeonchang. They earned their first medals after performing in the team ice dancing event.

Monday's ice dancing finals also featured other Michiganders. U.S. skaters Madison Chock of Novi and Evan Bates of Ann Arbor finished ninth after a routine that included a fall.

Chris Reed, who was born in Kalamazoo, and his partner Kana Muramoto finished in 15th place representing Japan.
