Love Interruption by Liz Cosby, beverage director, Rock City Eatery

2-3 sprigs thyme

1/2 oz simple syrup

1-1/2 oz White Blossom Vodka (this is an infused vodka; other vodkas will change the taste)

1/2 oz Cointreau

2 oz grapefruit juice

Muddle two sprigs of thyme with simple syrup. Add remaining ingredients to shaker with ice. Shake, strain into ice-filled highball glass. Garnish with remaining thyme.

"It's after Memorial Day, so now you can wear white and drink patio drinks," Tammy Coxen says with a smile.

What makes "Love Interruption" a patio drink? "It's really light and refreshing," Coxen says, adding, "Liz Cosby (who invented the drink) assured me thyme is a cooling herb." Coxen says at this time of year her garden has plenty of thyme to spare.

The vodka used in this recipe is made by Valentine Distilling. It's called White Blossom. The distillery's website describes it as starting out, "with our award winning vodka and then is infused with elderflower and grapefruit. It is sweetened with all natural beet sugar from Michigan grown beets."

"It's bright and refreshing, really easy to drink. This is the sort of thing you'd want be careful not to have too many or you might fall off," Coxen warns.
