An Arab-American Muslim lawyer from Dearborn says police should do more to investigate a threat against him.
Earlier this year, Majed Moughni sued Little Caesar's Pizza. He says they falsely advertised Halal pizza. Moughni says they’ve since stopped advertising it. Halal describes food prepared in accordance with Muslim tradition.
After filing a total of three lawsuits against the pizza chain, Moughni says he received a threat laced with racial slurs on Facebook.
"And at the time I didn't think anything of it. Just another upset individual who just decided to let out his anger."
Then he saw a tweet from the same guy. It included photos of Moughni’s family and listed where his daughter went to school.
He said he felt like he had to drop the lawsuits because of the threat. So he did.
Moughni says he filed a police report in October and nothing has come of it. He thinks there’s enough evidence to bring charges against the guy who posted the threat and sent the tweet.
"This individual sent a legit threat and they chose not to pursue it"
Moughni provided Michigan Radio a screenshot of the tweet that named where his daughter went to school. He says the first slur-filled threat was deleted from Facebook Messenger before he had a chance to capture a screenshot.
The Dearborn Police Department declined to comment.
