An embattled Flint city councilmanplans on taking part in a special training session tomorrow, despite calls for him to resign.
Councilman Eric Mays was recently charged with drunk driving and marijuana possession. Mays has refused Flint Emergency Manager Darnell Earley's call for him to resign.
Mays’ attorney says Mays will take part in the governance training session.
Earley says this weekend’s training session is an important step in preparing the city to emerge from state oversight.
He says the city council must be prepared to retake control of the city.
“Until that is determined I will not be establishing a transition advisory board and will not be recommending to the state that the emergency is abated,” says Earley.
This afternoon, Flint's emergency manager put additional restrictions on Councilman Mays to limit what is described as the councilman's "disruptive" behavior.
