You think Ford was a little embarrassed last year after having to reduce its mileage claims for the Ford C-Max? Now they have to reduce those claims for six 2013 and 2014 models (claims on the C-Max have to be reduced again).
All of Ford's 2013 hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles are affected, as well as most 2014 Fiesta models.

Ford will compensate 215,000 buyers with payments of between $125 and $1,050. Most of those customers are in the U.S.; around 15,000 are from Canada and elsewhere.

Ford wouldn't estimate the cost of the payments to customers, which was based on a calculation of the difference between the advertised rate and the change. AutoPacific Inc. analyst Dave Sullivan said the Ford move could influence other auto makers to be more conservative with their fuel economy estimates. Hybrid vehicle buyers are more sensitive about fuel economy than buyers of conventional cars, he said. "A couple hundred dollars or some sort of monetary value isn't going to be able to buy someone's trust."
