Green Partycandidates in Michigan got a boost this week from their 2016 presidential nominee.
Former Green Party presidential nominee Jill Stein has been attending campaign events to promote her party’s candidates running for offices ranging from county commissioner to governor.
“We’d like to see Greens breakthrough in several races,” says Stein.
Jennifer Kurlandis the Green’s gubernatorial nominee in Michigan. She says, beyond winning seats, the party’s focus is trying to win at least 5% of the vote in November.
“That’s certainly a hurdle that is extremely necessary for the growth of the party,” says Kurland.
But getting five percent of the vote in Michigan will be a challenge.
Two years ago, the Green’s Jill Stein picked up just over 1% of Michigan’s vote for president.
