Howell manufacturing plant to stop production

Marelco Power Systems, Inc. told the Livingston County Daily Press & Argus that is will stop production at its plant in Howell.

The company makes transformers, inductors, and control systems, among other things, for the auto companies and other manufacturers.

HOWELL, Mich. (AP) - A company official says production will cease at Marelco Power Systems Inc.'s plant in Howell, about 50 miles west of Detroit.

Ilene Lamb, the company's director of human resources, tells the Livingston County Daily Press & Argus that the Howell facility will become a technical center once production ceases.

Lamb declined to comment on the number of jobs involved in the change, or when production would end.

Howell-based Marelco is a designer and manufacturer of magnetic products, controls and integrated systems for industry. The company's website says it supplies the Detroit Three automotive companies with transformers.

Mark Brush was the station's Digital Media Director. He succumbed to a year-long battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer, in March 2018. He was 49 years old.
