Howes: Trump considers tariffs on imported vehicles, and the effect “could be profound”

"The impact of this, if it were to happen, and that's a really important caveat, could be profound on the industry and on trade influence," Howes said.

President Trump is considering tariffs on imported cars, trucks, and parts.

That word came after a Wednesday morning tweet from the president, promising "big news coming soon for our great American Autoworkers."

Daniel Howes, Detroit News business columnist, joined Stateside to tell us what a tariff on imported vehicles might look like in the auto industry.
