How is design playing a role in Detroit’s revitalization?

That question will be on many designers’ minds at the first-ever Detroit Month of Design. It runs the entire month of September with events all around the city.

Detroit was the first city in the United States to be designated a UNESCO City of Design by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization.

Olga Stella, the executive director of Design Core Detroit, joined Stateside to discuss the significance of design in the city of Detroit.

“For us, it’s about creativity that’s applied to problem-solving” Stella said.

Listen above to hear Stella discuss the important of equitable and inclusive development in Detroit.
