Macy’s rolls out East Lansing native’s fashion line geared toward Muslim women

Macy's has rolled out a new fashion line called Verona.

It’s aimed at Muslim women who want Western-style clothing and hijabs, or headscarves. Founder of the Verona Collection is Lisa Vogl, a fashion photographer who grew up in East Lansing. She converted to Islam in 2011.

Listen above to hear Vogl explain what inspired her to create this fashion line, and describe the Verona items now available at Macy’s. You’ll also hear her respond to some online pushback Macy’s has been getting to Verona, and explain what it says that a major retailer is now offering her modest line.
