McDaniel told us Republican voter turnout was more or less in line with what the party expected.

Michigan has voted a Republican into the White House for the first time since 1988.

Michigan Republican Party Chairman Ronna Romney McDanieltold us the results were “absolutely” beyond what the party hoped for.

“It’s a great night all the way around. We thought we were going to keep our majority in the state House and keep our congressional delegation, and we actually thought Trump could win Michigan, but you know, you’re always nervous going into election day, and I think we exceeded expectations,” she said.

In our conversation above, McDaniel talks about the enthusiasm she felt among voters from all over Michigan and her top priorities moving forward.
