New app lets players dodge potholes, deer, and construction on their way up North

Aug 8, 2018

Some video games take you to outer space. Others take you back in time.

Now there's an app that keeps you right here in Michigan, doing something we all know all too well: getting ourselves up North while avoiding a seemingly infinite number of potholes.

Joey Stinson, the creator of the Get Up North app and the creative director of Shiatown Media, joined Stateside to talk about the game.

"The whole point is that you're a Michigander making the ultimate journey up North. You start off with a car and you avoid potholes, deer, and construction cones while collecting pop cans for points," Stinson explained.

Listen above to hear where the idea for the game came from, what's next for the app, and where to find the game to play it.
