When we started The Next Ideaour intention was to gather Michigan's best and brightest minds to have conversations about innovations that can move Michigan forward.

We're defining "innovation" broadly because it can come from different industries and be applied to different aspects of our lives. Business, education, and social issues are all topics that our essayists have explored in the first six months of this ground-breaking opinion project.

The essence of this project is that ideas are powerful things. They force us to rethink what's possible and to look in new places for solutions. They also jumpstart conversations in which ideas beget more ideas. For us to find the best ones that improve life for all of us in Michigan, we have to talk about them and truly collaborate. And that's where you come in.

We want to hear from you. We all know what the problems are in our state. Our contributors have shown the courage to share what they think could improve our state. Help us make these ideas better. How would you improve upon them? What are some alternative solutions that can be gamechangers for making Michigan great again? How do you see the next 10, 15, 20 years playing out in your neighborhood, village, town, or city?

We've featured over 30 essays, interviews, and think-pieces as part of The Next Idea.

For the next couple of weeks, we'll re-introduce you to some of our essays that have sparked conversation. Some have made you angry. Some essays have made you think differently about problem-solving.

We'll also highlight a few essays that we think didn't get the attention they deserve the first time around. In our age of information overload, it's easy for ideas that matter to get overlooked. So here's a second chance to take in some new thinking on age-old problems.

You're invited to tell us about your next idea is: given a broad brush, what Next Ideas can you come up with to make Michigan better? Tell us
