Sexual assault survivors of convicted sports doctor Larry Nassar have until September 10, 2018 to file claims for compensation from Michigan State University's Nassar Victim Fund.
About 100 additional women have filed claims since MSU's settlement in May with the original group of 333 women.
In May, MSU set up a $500 million fund to compensate victims of Larry Nassar.
According to Megan Bonanni, a lawyer for some of the women who have newly filed claims, $425 million of the fund is earmarked for the first group of 333 women who were abused by Larry Nassar. The remaining $75 million is designated for the claims of additional survivors.
"In a case like this, survivors are slowly coming to terms with what has happened to them, and they take different routes to healing and pursuing their rights," said Bonanni.
Bonanni said the September 10th deadline is important because Nassar survivors who come forward after that deadline has passed will likely face significant legal challenges to their claims for compensation.
