A small group of protesters were on hand as Vice President Mike Pencecame to Michigan today.

In Birmingham, the vice president attended what a spokesman described as a “significant" fundraiser for Attorney General Bill Schuette’s campaign for governor.

But while Mike Pence was welcome inside, outside was a different story.

About 30 people stood in a park across the street, waving signs and chanting “Schuette-Pence has got to go.”

The small protest drew a diverse group, from organized labor and local Democrats to LGBTQ rights supporters and Enbridge Line 5 critics.

“Mike Pence and his vision for America is very similar to what Bill Schuette wants for Michigan…we just don’t think it’s the right move,” says Sam Inglot with Progress Michigan, who helped organize the protest.

Inglot says this protest is part of an effort to educate Michigan voters.
