President Trump pushed back Tuesday against critics of his Helsinki summit with Russia's President Vladimir Putin. He said that the U.S.-Russia relationship “has gotten substantially better” and that he “accepts” U.S. intelligence agencies conclusions on Russian meddling.

But Trump's words and actions in Helsinki have prompted a flood of criticism, including from congressional Republicans.

U.S. Representative Paul Mitchell, a Republican from Michigan's 10th District, joined Stateside to discuss his reaction to the meeting, the importance of conducting diplomacy even with foes, and the questions he still has around President Trump’s relationship to Russia and President Putin.
