GRAND HAVEN, Mich.  - Another round of winter weather is expected to make travel difficult in parts of Michigan as bitterly cold temperatures moderate somewhat.

Temperatures on Tuesday morning ranged from just above zero to the low 20s. It was 6 in Detroit, 7 in Grand Rapids and 17 in Traverse City.

Across the state, winds are expected to cause blowing and drifting snow. Parts of western Michigan could get up to 4 inches of new snow. Up to about an inch is forecast in the eastern part of the state, including Detroit.

The National Weather Service says 2 to 5 inches is possible in parts of the Upper Peninsula.

Snow and wind are making travel difficult in parts of Michigan, forcing officials to shut down the Mackinac Bridge.

State police say the shutdown Tuesday morning comes amid near-zero visibility from blowing snow in the Straits of Mackinac.
Most schools reopened Tuesday after many shut Monday amid the cold. Sub-zero temperatures are to return Wednesday through Friday.
