Demonstrators lined a highway in Flint near the water plant today, ahead of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's visit there. Some of the demonstrators supported Trump. Many were opposed.
Leslie Wilson blasted the timing of Trump’s visit, and the fact that no events were open to the general public.
“It’s just ridiculous. Why he’s coming 60 days before the election. It’s ridiculous.”
Wilson says she thinks the visit was aimed at attracting the support of skeptical moderate Republicans, and not people who live in Flint or other cities.
Robert Owens lives in a Flint suburb. He sported an NRA cap and waved a Trump sign at passing cars and trucks. He says Trump is the person to fix Flint and other struggling cities.
“Everything he stands for – making America great again. These people are yelling they want Flint water better. Why not vote for someone who can do that?”
The pro- and anti-Trump demonstrators got into some heated arguments at times.
Meanwhile, in another part of town, CNN's Noah Gray tweeted this:

Trump also met with a small group of congregants at a Flint church.
Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton visited Flint in February.
