These Michigan Radio 2014 stories gave you "the feels"

Here are the stories from the Michigan Radio website with the most traffic from Jan. 1, 2014 to Dec. 15, 2014, according to our data.

feels: a wave of emotions that sometimes cannot be adequately explained, e.g. Watching Back To The Future gives me all sorts of nostalgic feels. – Urban Dictionary

Your most-read stories ran the gamut from news to politics to sports to Stateside with Cynthia Cantyinterviews with scientists and artists.

The top stories on the Web show us your uniquely Michigander concerns: the environment, Detroit's fate, LGBT rights, educational reform, and John U. Bacon's every word about University of Michigan football.

We can't explain the popularity of Stateside's story about the University of Michigan installing napping stations in their undergraduate library as a top story.

But if you check out this graph of the story's popularity, you'll see that the story peaks during final exam time. Perhaps the story served as a useful directory for exhausted, but studious undergrads?

It's fair to note that the most-read stories on the website differ quite a bit from the most shared stories or stories with the most comments on Facebook.

The local, state, and national news you enjoyed sparring over on social media inspired lots of comments, a bit of bickering, and some mutual understanding; remembering Car Talk's Tom Magliozzi, election results and low voter turnout, water shut offs in Detroit, and same-sex rights to legal protections were the main topics where you put the "social" in social media.

The conversations we create on the Web and through social media show your commitment to the Michigan Radio community. We're looking forward to more of those conversations in 2015.
