Wolverines lose NCAA hockey title game in overtime
The University of Michigan men's hockey team fell in overtime to Minnesota-Duluth in last night's NCAA championship game. The Associated Press reports:
Kyle Schmidt scored 3:22 into overtime to lift Minnesota Duluth to a 3-2 victory over Michigan in the NCAA championship game. That's the first national title for the Bulldogs. Travis Oleksuk and Max Tardy had second-period goals for Minnesota Duluth, which hadn't played for the championship since losing in four overtimes to Bowling Green in 1984. Ben Winnett and Jeff Rohrkemper scored for Michigan, which fell to 9-3 in title games. The Wolverines still have the NCAA record of nine.
