Absentee ballots will start arriving in Michigan mailboxes in the next few weeks. One county clerk is predicting confusion.

Genesee County Clerk John Gleason says about half his county’s voters routinely use the straight party ticket option, but starting this fall that won’t be an option.

After another light voter turnout in the May election, the Genesee County clerk says it’s time to consolidate future elections to August and November.

There were elections May 8 in 66 of Michigan’s 83 counties. Voters were mostly asked to decide school millages and bond requests. 

Clerk John Gleason says the May election in Genesee County drew less than 10%, and in some cases much less.

A judge wants to hear testimony from a handwriting expert in the next few days before deciding if a recall election against Flint’s mayor can take place in November.

Mayor Karen Weaver’s attorney launched a final legal attack on the recall petition this week, arguing before a judge that the county clerk’s office certified the petition despite numerous forgeries.
