The one that DIDN’T get away is a world record

Joseph Seeberger with his world record Great Lakes muskellunge

In a press release today, Michigan’s Department of Natural Resources says Joseph Seeberger has both a state record and now a world record-sized Great Lakes muskellunge.

The International Committee of the Modern Day Muskellunge World Record Program (MDMWRP) recognized Seeberger’s catch as the biggest ever.  MDMWRP is a committee of muskellunge scientists, industry leaders, anglers and outdoor media personalities that formed in 2006.

Prior to Seeberger's submission, there had not been a MDMWRP world-record entry verified.

Suttons Bay school district going for Guinness floating raft

After a successful fundraising campaign, Suttons Bay schools are now financially afloat. To celebrate, the school district is hosting what they hope to be a record-breaking boat gathering they're calling "floatilla."

Not too long ago, the tiny Suttons Bay Public Schools system was worried about going under. Now, buoyed by a community that opened its hearts and wallets, the district is not only well above water but planning to host a world-record "floatilla." A what?

Grand Rapids tosses world record 925 rubber chickens at once

Grand Rapids smashed the former world record for rubber chicken chucking set last April in a town near Boston. They got 265 people to toss rubber chickens at once. Last night Grand Rapids tossed an impressive 925.

The world record title marked the beginning of LaughFest. An event that'll take over much of Grand Rapids over the next 9 days. Those little yellow smiley faces representing the festival dot billboards, bar windows, churches; people even wear them as lapel pins.
