The return of Artpod!

Dave Trumpie

It's been a long, stupidly cold and soul-killing winter.

Few people know that Artpod cannot survive until we've had at least three days above 70 degrees.

So it's only now that Artpod can emerge from hibernation,  much the way men's feet are unfortunately baring themselves to the world in flip flops again.

But really, we're so glad to be back to a more regular Artpod. Our goal is to put out a new episode every two weeks, on Tuesdays. So check back here to get regular roundups of what our reporters, producers and staff are talking about when it comes to Michigan music, movies, art and culture.

And of course, we want to hear from you. Let us know in the comments which Michigan-made arts and artists you're paying attention to, and you might hear about it on Michigan Radio.

Today's artpod: Yo Yo Ma plays with Detroit kids; Flint rapper & R&B genius Tunde Olaniran is blowing up; and what happens when a neighborhood church closes its doors.

Kate Wells is a Peabody Award-winning journalist currently covering public health and the COVID-19 pandemic.
