August auto sales may slip

August auto sales may be down slightly.

Automakers will release their August sales numbers Tuesday.

Charles Chesbrough is an auto industry analyst with IHS Global Insight.     He says unlike most years, this year’s August sales numbers will not include Labor Day weekend sales.

“We may even see sales decline a little bit because of those sales that are included in August 2014 number from Labor Day,” says Chesbrough.

Chesbrough is concerned economic uncertainty in China may affect U.S. consumers later this fall.

But he still expects automakers will rack up about 17 million sales in the domestic auto market this year.
