Team USA lost to Germany today at the World Cup in Brazil.

But Michigan sports bars are counting themselves as winners.

Since the global soccer tournament began, sports bars have been very busy.

Business at Peppinos in East Lansing usually slows in June as the college crowd thins. But not this year.

A mournful cry of "NO!" rose from the crowd at Peppinos in East Lansing, after Germany scored the only goal of the match.

Soccer fans have been packing the bar during the World Cup, especially when Team USA is playing.

“Being summer, students are out of town,” says Ryan Cavanaugh, bar manager at Peppinos, “(the World Cup) has brought so many people in.”

“We’ve added a few extra bartenders, a few extra servers. We’ve opened up a couple extra rooms than we normally would have,” says Cavanaugh. “It’s been great.”

Michigan sports bars will probably continue to get a kick from the World Cup since the U.S. has advanced from the “Group of Death” to the next round of the tournament.

The Americans will play Group H winner Belgium Tuesday in Salvador, Brazil.
