Should we look abroad to fix our student loan system?

Student loans help millions get their college degrees.

But critics say our rigid, outdated system for paying back those loans is causing too many people to fall behind or default.

People borrow for higher education all over the world. Who's doing it better and how?

Susan Dynarski is a professor of public policy, education and economics at the University of Michigan.

She's an expert on financial aid for higher education, who recently testified in Washington before the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions.

Dynarski joined Stateside to discuss what other countries are doing to make their repayment systems better than what we have here.

Listen above for the entire conversation.
