When it comes to making Michigan welcoming for everyone, "we all play a part," said Christine Sauvé. "

As Michigan kids get settled into this new school year, there's one group that can use some extra support: children who are immigrants or refugees.

Christine Sauvé works for Welcoming Michigan, the integration initiative at the Michigan Immigrant Rights Center.

Lately they’ve been using a new approach to integrating immigrants, focusing their efforts on what U.S.-born Americans think about immigrants coming in. We sat down with Sauvé to learn about some of the newest initiatives, specifically those at play in our schools.
