Health officials encourage flu shots
You might be taking precautions to avoid the coronavirus, but the flu is also a threat.
Washing hands, wearing masks, and avoiding people are all good measures to prevent exposure to influenza as well as coronavirus. But, the best bet is to get the flu vaccine.
If you’re not sure where to go to get a shot, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services has an online service to find a provider in your area. Just search for “Michigan vaccine finder.”
You can also call your local health department for help.
Everyone six months and older is advised to get a flu shot. Because of the risks of the coronavirus pandemic, some health providers are also offering curbside flu shots. Other services are offering mobile pop-up clinics.
Most retail pharmacies also offer flu shots. Insurance often covers the whole cost of the shot.
