A U.S. Supreme Court decision has swept away Nevada's monopoly on legal sports betting. The 6-3 decision, released today, means states can opt to legalize sports betting and enjoy the tax benefits.

State Rep. Robert Kosowski, D-Westland, stopped by Stateside to discuss a sports gambling bill that he had already set in motion prior to the Supreme Court decision.

Rep. Kosowski says sport gambling in our state would be a boon for tax revenues to help Michigan roads and could turn Michigan's casinos into destination tourism hotbeds.

To those who are anti-gambling, Kosowski points out that the lottery partially funds Michigan schools, bingo halls help non-profits, and almost every gas station already offers scores of scratch-off gambling options.
