Michigan has 20 wind farms, but some communities are pushing against them. In Monitor Township, the Board of Trustees unanimously voted for a moratorium on wind turbines. The planning commission will review the township’s current wind ordinance.";

Another Michigan community is pushing back against wind turbines. In Monitor Township, the Board of Trustrees unanimously passed a moratorium on building wind turbines Monday night.

More than 400 residents attended the meeting. Residents said they're concerned the turbines could lower their property values. They're also worried about the noise and possible effects to their health.

Twenty wind farms have already been built in Michigan, including farms in Huron, Saginaw, and Bay counties.

DTE Energy wants to add more turbines to create renewable energy, but several communities have voted against their construction.

The planning commission will review Monitor Township's current wind ordinance and meet in August.
