Freight train derailment shuts down several roads in Kalamazoo

Kalamazoo mayor Bobby Hopewell is advising people to avoid the area where a freight train derailed near the intersection of Porter and Willard streets.
It happened a little before 7 a.m. Tuesday. Fifteen cars are off the track.
The derailment is blocking several intersections near downtown Kalamazoo.
There are no reports of injuries or hazardous materials being spilled. No word yet on what caused the train to leave the tracks.
