Starting in December, the minimum wage at Beaumont Health will be $15 dollars an hour.

One of Michigan's largest hospital systems is raising its minimum wage to $15 an hour.

Beaumont Health operates eight hospitals in Michigan. It joins Henry Ford and Trinity health systems, who raised their minimum wages last month. The wage bump comes as cases of COVID-19 accelerate across the state.

Beaumont also announced it'll give out bonuses the day before Thanksgiving.

Full time employees will get an extra $1,000. Beaumont said part time workers also will get some bonus money, but approximately 120 senior administrators will not.

“By enhancing our compensation programs, we hope to ease some of the financial stress the COVID-19 pandemic has created,” Beaumont Health CEO John Fox said in a statement. “We want our employees to know they are valued by everyone at Beaumont Health.”

The wage increase is scheduled to begin in December.
