Members of the state Humane Society's cruelty investigation department and emergency rescue teams will be sleeping outside in the doghouses in Detroit for eight hours beginning Tuesday night and ending Wednesday morning.

The MHS cruelty investigation and rescue department says it responds to thousands of calls each year about animals that have been abused or neglected or are sick or injured.
