Mark Harvey, a state archivist with the Michigan History Center, and Dr. Howard Markel, a medical historian and PBS NewsHour contributor, joined Stateside to give us some insight on Beaumont's life.

Listen to the conversation above to hear how a fateful accident propelled Beaumont's early career, whether his research has stood the test of time, and why his name is still so far reaching.
