Oakland County officials announced this afternoon that County Executive L. Brooks Patterson was discharged today from McLaren Oakland Hospital.

Patterson has spent five weeks in the hospital after he was severely injured in a crash in early August.

From the Oakland Co. press release:

Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson was discharged today from McLaren Oakland Hospital five weeks after he received multiple orthopedic injuries in a two-vehicle accident caused by a VW Passat that turned in front of his Chrysler 300. Patterson will continue his physical rehabilitation at an undisclosed location in Oakland County. He also will continue to receive daily briefings from staff. “I’ve made great progress under the outstanding care of the staff at McLaren Oakland Hospital,” Patterson said. “I look forward to continuing the healing process so that I can return to the Executive Office Building soon.”

Jim Cram, Patterson's driver, was also injured in the crash. He remains hospitalized with no discharge date set, according to the county.

Both men were not wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
