Over the past few months, Michigan Radio hosted live call-in shows with the candidates for Michigan governor and U.S. Senate.
The broadcasts were part of the Michigan Public Radio Network’s “Michigan Calling” series of 2014 election specials.
Rick Pluta, the Michigan Public Radio Network’s state Capitol bureau chief, hosted each hour-long program.

Gov. Rick Snyder
Gov. Snyder is seeking a second term as the Republican candidate. On Sept. 5, he fielded questions from Michiganders; the questions spanned a broad range of topics, including education, the economy, the environment, and social issues.
Gubernatorial candidate Mark Schauer
Democratic candidate Schauer answered questions about his plans for education, the city of Detroit, retiree pensions, road funding and more on July 11.
U.S. Senate candidate Terri Lynn Land
Land served two terms as Michigan’s 41st Secretary of State (2003-2010). She answered questions on Oct. 3 about topics like foreign policy, education, fixing Michigan roads, healthcare reform and taxes.
U.S. Senate candidate Gary Peters
Peters, a Democrat, is currently the U.S. Representative for Michigan’s 14th congressional district. On Aug. 22, he answered questions about foreign policy, same-sex marriage, gun control, immigration, energy and more.
