Republicans in the Michigan Senate have introduced seven bills aimed at reforming the education system in Michigan. Critics say the Republicans are trying to "destroy" public education in the state.

Each week, Jennifer White talks Michigan politics with Susan Demas, publisher of Inside Michigan Politics, and Ken Sikkema, former Senate Majority Leader and Senior Policy Fellow at Public Sector Consultants. 

This week 's conversation focuses on  how education funding is shaping up in Lansing. 

So far, there's a lot of distance between what Gov. Rick Snyder says he wants, and proposals coming out of the legislature. What does Snyder need to do to close that distance and not stretch the state budget any further?
