More Syrian refugees have come to Michigan seeking a new life than any other state.

The State Department reports that 505 Syrian refugees settled in our state between May 2011 and May 2016. And more are on the way.

Heather Higginbottom? with the Department of State joined us on today's Stateside to talk about what these refugees go through in order to be allowed to move to the United States, as well as Michigan's outsized role in resettling these immigrants.

GUEST Heather Higginbotton is the U.S. Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources.
