The Southern Poverty Law Center, a civil rights watchdog, says it has identified 25 hate groups in the state of Michigan for its 2020 annual "Hate Map" report.

Among those groups is the Christ the King Reformed Church in Charlotte, Michigan.

The church's pastor, Bret McAtee, has maligned a panoply of persons and groups, including LGBTQ individuals, feminists, non-Christian immigrants, whom he calls "Christ-haters," other pastors, and people who support diversity, whom he calls "race pimps."

McAtee has also mocked public health measures such as vaccines and face masks. He did not respond to a request for comment.

It's not known how many people attend his church.

Other hate groups identified as active in Michigan include a Proud Boys chapter in Lansing, a Neo Nazi group, Folks Front, and three white nationalist groups: Patriot Front, The Base, and White Rabbit Radio.
