Two more Republicans have entered the race in the 8th Congressional District - which includes Ingham and Livingston Counties and part of Oakland County.

Kristina Lyke, an attorney, and Paul Junge, formerly an immigration official under the Trump administration, announced their candidacies Thursday.

"I think President Trump and a formerly Republican Congress has a lot to do with why we see record low unemployment," says Junge. "And I think the 8th District should have a voice supporting those efforts."

Junge says he does not support the impeachment effort against Trump.

"We're going to have another election in less than a year," says Junge. "If the voters think President Trump has acted badly, they should vote on that. We shouldn't have elite and legislative people trying to thwart the will of the voters."

Nikki Snyder, a member of the state Board of Education, and Mike Detmer, who works in the automotive industry, are also running.
