VP candidate Paul Ryan scheduled to appear at Oakland University 'victory rally'

Oct 8, 2012

Paul Ryan will be at Oakland University in Rochester tonight as the Romney campaign refocuses its attention on Michigan.

This comes after fundraising visits to Midland and Novi from Chris Christie on Saturday night.

As MLive reports, the vice presidential candidate will be introduced by Kid Rock at what the campaign is calling a “victory rally.”

From MLive:

Republicans have remained confident they can win the second-tier battleground state despite polls showing Obama with a lead and the Romney campaign deciding not to run ads in Michigan, his home state. No Michigan polling has been released since the first debate last week between Obama and Romney, a debate largely seen as being won by the former Massachusetts governor.

Tracy Samilton of Michigan Radio spoke with Michigan political analyst Bill Ballenger, who mentioned that Michigan Republicans are feeling the renewed attention is long overdue.

“The Republicans here in Michigan obviously want Romney to win in Michigan, but if he can't win, they want him to at least make it close and at least make Obama sweat,” he said.

Ballenger said forcing the Obama campaign to pay more attention to Michigan could divert the President’s resources from more important swing states.

Mitt Romney's wife, Ann, will appear in Grand Rapids on Friday.
