Michigan Radio: Dustin Dwyer
Dustin Dwyer is an audio reporter who can do it all, from quick turn sound-rich features on last night’s events, to long-form investigative stories requiring months of work and lots of documents and data.
Two examples of Dustin’s long-form work are provided in this entry.
This first is a feature Dustin turned overnight after covering a BLM protest in Grand Rapids. Dustin finds a character to follow and tells the story the way no other media outlet could, avoiding the cliché coverage and providing a fresh insight into the protest.
In the second feature – Dustin investigates what went wrong at Lakeside Academy that resulted in the death of a teenage boy, and how things still have not been improved upon, even after the facility is closed. This story required months of in-depth investigative reporting, and Dustin still shares the story with a great narrative, good sound, and strong writing an delivery skills. (This feature was cut short due to the time restrictions.)
These examples are just two of many that could be shared demonstrating the depth and versatility of Dustin’s work.
