A major Flint-based company has been bought by a Minnesota company.

UnitedHealth Group's OptumRx pharmacy care services unit announced Monday that it is acquiring Diplomat Pharmacy Inc. for $300 million.

The University of Michigan-Flint is getting two million dollars to start a Center for Entrepreneurship.

The money comes from Philip Hagerman.  The founder of a Genesee County pharmaceutical company says the center will benefit the wider Flint community.

The owners of a Flint pharmaceutical company rang the bell on Wall Street Friday.

The company started in a Flint neighborhood pharmacy nearly 40 years ago.

Diplomat Pharmacy is now the nation’s largest specialty pharmaceutical company.   The company serves about one percent of the nation’s sickest patients by providing drugs for complex treatments for cancer, Crohn’s disease and other illnesses. 

Diplomat started trading its stock publicly on Friday.
