Democratic Presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren met with the United Auto Workers union members who are on strike at General Motors in Detroit.

Senator Warren, who walked in solidarity with hundreds of UAW workers outside the GM Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant on Sunday, says the country needs a Department of Labor that stands by union workers.

The NAACP national convention is drawing many high-profile Democratic Party officials to the Motor City this week.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is scheduled to address the annual convention Monday morning in Detroit.   The attendees will also hear from former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams and Michigan U.S. Rep. Rashia Tlaib, who’s been a frequent target of President Trump.

Massachusetts Senator and Democratic presidential hopeful Elizabeth Warren kicked off her first campaign swing through Michigan in Detroit Tuesday, unveiling a plan to boost U.S. manufacturing and job creation through investments in climate change-fighting technologies.

Speaking at Detroit’s FOCUS Hope job training center, Warren outlined a 10-year plan to invest $400 billion in federal investments in research and development for green technologies. It would include a requirement that any resulting products be manufactured in the U.S.

The race to the 2020 presidential election makes another stop in Michigan this week.

U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) is the latest Democrat running for president to schedule campaign stops in Michigan. Warren will make appearances in Lansing and Detroit on Tuesday.
