Michigan's medical marijuana program now has online registration. Andrew Brisbo is the director of the Bureau of Medical Marihuana Regulation.
He says the new system will allow cards to be issued much more quickly, within a few days.
"We think there's excitement in the physician community to do those certifications online, but patients do need to be working with a physician that has an online registration," says Brisbo.
The new online portal is being rolled out in phases. The first phase is for new patient applications or expired cards. Later, other functions like card renewals and card amendments will be added to the system. The system went live Thursday, and Brisbo says the first cards have already been issued.
