Our series Bringing up Detroit takes you inside the lives of four Detroit families as they navigate the city's often unpredictable school systems, economy, transportation networks, and neighborhoods.

As part of the series, we've commissioned filmmaker Andrea Claire Maio to collaborate with producer Zak Rosen to create short films about our families around their dinner tables. Enjoy the film featuring the Lumpkin/Gaston family, who Rosen reported on in this month, as well as in March and June.

Bringing up Detroit is brought to you with support from the Skillman Foundation. Kids matter here.
