Detroit Art Week to showcase city’s “edgy and avant-garde” contemporary art
The first ever Detroit Art Week is set to run July 20, 21, and 22. Organizers bill it as "a self-guided tour and celebration of contemporary art and culture in Detroit."
Amani Olu, the founder and executive director of Detroit Art Week, joined Stateside to tell us about the event.
Listen above to hear about Olu's vision to "establish Detroit as a major global destination for contemporary art," what stands out about the city's art scene, and the kind of narrative about Detroit the event hopes to create.
