A large crowd chanting “I can’t breathe” laid on the grounds of the state Capitol in Lansing on Sunday.

The chants echoed the cries of George Floyd, who died after a Minneapolis police officer knelt on his neck during an arrest.

The Lansing protesters also chanted “love over hate,” and then marched through downtown Lansing.

The Lansing rally was part of a dozen protests against police brutality across Michigan this weekend. Protesters clashed with police in Detroit on Saturday night, and extensive vandalism took place in Grand Rapids.
